In light of the political unrest in Maharashtra, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) summoned Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Tuesday in connection with the Pravin Raut and Patra Chawl land fraud case. ED had previously attached several of his possessions.
After receiving a summons from the ED in a case involving money laundering, Rawat declared that he “won’t travel to Guwahati” and that the ED may arrest him.
I recently learned that I have been called by the ED.
I just came to know that the ED has summoned me.
Good ! There are big political developments in Maharashtra. We, Balasaheb’s Shivsainiks are fighting a big battle. This is a conspiracy to stop me. Even if you behead me, I won’t take the Guwahati route.
Arrest me !

Good ! Maharashtra has experienced significant political developments. We, the Shivsainiks of Balasaheb, are engaged in a fierce conflict. This is a plot to prevent me. I won’t go through Guwahati, even if you behead me.
Shiv Sena leader Priyanka Chaturvedi responded to the summons by saying that it demonstrated the ED’s “true devotion” for the BJP.

Ram Kadam, a BJP legislator: “Such things are inevitable when financial irregularities are brought to light with supporting documentation. ED doesn’t act immediately. He has to respond to the inquiries.”
Added he, “Why should we associate the ED with politics when it is acting based on evidence? The ED does not base its decisions on a person’s status or religion. If anything is incorrect, someone will be made to answer for it.”
