Amit Shah on UCC: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is working towards implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) across all 21 states governed by the alliance before 2029.

Addressing the issue of the Uniform Civil Code, Shah said the UCC has already been introduced in several states. He expressed confidence that the remaining NDA-governed states would also adopt the framework before the 2029 deadline.

The Home Minister also highlighted the Centre's approach towards national security, pointing to operations including surgical strikes, air strikes and Operation Sindoor as examples of what he described as India's policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism.

Amit Shah Says UCC Will Be Implemented Across NDA States

Amit Shah on UCC has reiterated the government's intention to expand the Uniform Civil Code to states governed by the BJP-led NDA.

According to Shah, the UCC has already been introduced in several states. He said he was confident that the policy would be implemented in all 21 NDA-governed states before 2029.

The statement underlines the BJP-led alliance's continued focus on the Uniform Civil Code as a key governance and policy issue.

What Is the Uniform Civil Code?

The Uniform Civil Code refers to a common set of personal laws governing matters such as marriage, divorce, inheritance and adoption, irrespective of religious community.

The implementation of a UCC has remained an important subject of political and legal debate in India. Supporters argue that a common framework can promote equality and uniformity, while opponents have raised concerns about religious and cultural diversity.

Amit Shah Highlights India's Zero-Tolerance Policy on Terrorism

Alongside his comments on the UCC, Amit Shah highlighted the government's approach to national security and counter-terrorism.

Shah referred to operations including surgical strikes, air strikes and Operation Sindoor, saying such actions have established a policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism.

According to the Home Minister, the government's security approach has prioritised protecting the country across different sectors.

Surgical Strikes and Air Strikes

Shah cited surgical strikes and air strikes as examples of India's response to security threats. He said these operations demonstrated a shift towards a firm policy against terrorism.
