Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the Congress party, accusing it of continuously lowering the standards of public discourse.
In a post shared on social media, Shah said that the Congress is “hitting new lows every day” and breaking its own record in degrading political dialogue. His remarks came in response to comments made by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, who allegedly referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a “terrorist.”

Shah termed the statement as a serious breach of public conduct and said it had “brought shame to the nation.” He further added that insulting the Prime Minister is equivalent to insulting millions of citizens who support him.
“Calling a leader like Modi Ji a terrorist, who has completely curbed terrorism in the last 12 years, is highly condemnable,” Shah stated, defending the Prime Minister’s record on national security.
The Home Minister also emphasized that such remarks by Congress leaders are often met with strong responses from the public. “Every time the Congress hurls abuses at Modi Ji, it is the people of India who answer them. This time too, the people will respond,” he said.
The exchange marks yet another escalation in the ongoing political war of words between the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress, especially as the country moves closer to key electoral battles.
