The Sujit Bose has been arrested by the Directorate of Enforcement Kolkata Zonal Office under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002 in connection with the alleged Municipality Recruitment Scam in West Bengal.
According to officials, Sujit Bose, who previously served as the Minister of Fire and Emergency Services in West Bengal and was also an MLA, was arrested on May 11, 2026, following an ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities in municipal recruitment processes.


The accused was produced before the Hon’ble Special Court at Bichar Bhavan, Kolkata, which granted the Enforcement Directorate 10 days of custody for further investigation into the matter.
The Municipality Recruitment Scam has emerged as another major corruption probe in West Bengal, with investigative agencies examining allegations of illegal appointments, financial irregularities, and money laundering linked to recruitment processes in several civic bodies.
The ED is expected to continue questioning and examining financial transactions, documents, and possible links connected to the alleged scam during the custody period.
