Asian Games 2026 Day 9: India’s Medal Surge Continues Across Sports
India continued its strong run at the Asian Games 2026 on Day 9, adding a series of medals and advancing across multiple sporting disciplines.
Athletics led the medal charge as Gulveer Singh, Murali Sreeshankar and Yashvir Singh secured silver medals for India, while Rohit Yadav and Parul Chaudhary added bronze medals.
In Kurash, Pincky Balhara won the bronze medal in the women’s -78kg category, adding another podium finish for the Indian contingent.
India also strengthened its medal prospects in boxing, with Lovlina Borgohain, Priya and Kapil Pokhariya securing quarterfinal victories and assuring themselves of medals.
The Indian men’s hockey team produced a dominant performance, defeating Bangladesh 10-0 to finish at the top of Pool A unbeaten and book a place in the semifinals.
In archery, Ganesh Mani Ratnam Thirumuru advanced to the quarterfinals, while Chikitha Taniparthi also progressed to the last eight. Surfing saw Kishore Kumar Anbarasu reach the quarterfinals.
India continued its winning run in volleyball, sweeping Hong Kong 3-0 to remain at the top of Pool C.
In squash, the Indian men’s team topped Pool A and advanced to the quarterfinals, while the women’s team maintained its winning momentum.
With medals coming in athletics and Kurash and several athletes and teams progressing deeper into their respective competitions, Day 9 further strengthened India’s campaign at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026.
