Indian sailors Harshita Tomar and Shital Verma produced a dramatic finish to claim the bronze medal in the Women’s Skiff event at the 2026 Asian Games.
The Indian duo accumulated 24 net points across the series and remained in contention throughout a fiercely contested regatta. Although they initially crossed the final race line in fourth position, a subsequent technical review changed the podium standings.
The Chinese pair Xiaoyu Hu and Yuyue Sun, who had originally occupied third place, were disqualified following the review. The decision elevated the Indian sailors into the bronze-medal position.
Japan Take Gold, Hong Kong China Win Silver
Japan dominated the Women’s Skiff competition, finishing the series with 14 net points to take the gold medal.
Hong Kong, China secured silver with 18 net points, while India moved into third place with 24 net points and 28 total points after the disqualification.
The bronze adds another significant achievement to India’s sailing campaign at the 2026 Asian Games, with Tomar and Verma holding their nerve through a high-stakes finish before the final standings were confirmed.
