Asian Games 2026: Parul Chaudhary Fights Back to Clinch Bronze in Women's 5000m

India’s long-distance star Parul Chaudhary secured another podium finish at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026, winning the Bronze Medal in the Women’s 5000m final with a time of 15:14.61.

The bronze marks Chaudhary’s second medal of the Games, coming less than 24 hours after she claimed bronze in the Women’s 3000m Steeplechase. Her back-to-back podium finishes underline her versatility and endurance across long-distance events.

Bahrain’s Winfred Yavi captured the gold medal with a winning time of 15:10.18. Yavi produced a powerful final 400 metres to pull clear of the field and secure the top position.

Japan’s Nozomi Tanaka won the silver medal in 15:11.65. The home favourite maintained a strong pace through the middle stages of the race and remained in contention until the final stretch.

Chaudhary stayed within striking distance of the leaders throughout the 12.5-lap race. She held her position under pressure on the final lap and successfully resisted late challenges to cross the finish line third in 15:14.61.

With two bronze medals in two demanding distance events, Parul Chaudhary has emerged as one of India’s standout performers in the athletics programme at the Asian Games 2026.
