Asian Games 2026: Gulveer Singh Completes Historic Treble with Bronze in Men’s 5000m Final

Indian distance-running star Gulveer Singh added another medal to his remarkable campaign at the 2026 Asian Games, winning the Bronze medal in the Men’s 5,000m Final at the Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium.

The Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) athlete clocked an impressive 13:32.75 to finish third in a highly competitive final. Bahrain’s Birhanu Balew won the Gold medal, while Japan’s Tomonori Yamaguchi secured Silver.

The Bronze medal completed a remarkable three-medal individual campaign for Gulveer at the Asian Games. His results were:

🥉 Men’s 5,000m — Bronze

With three individual athletics medals at a single Asian Games edition, Gulveer becomes only the second Indian track-and-field athlete to achieve the feat and the first Indian male runner to do so.

Gulveer’s impressive campaign was supported by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports’ Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS). His preparation included specialised high-altitude training camps and international racing exposure.
