Asian Games Day 6: China Nears 100 Golds, Oman Makes History
China continued its dominant run at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, finishing Day 6 with 98 gold, 37 silver and 24 bronze medals for a total of 159 medals. Japan remained second with 28 gold, 43 silver and 44 bronze medals, while South Korea occupied third with 13 gold, 17 silver and 34 bronze.
China added 18 gold medals during Day 6, moving within two golds of the 100-gold milestone. Its medal haul has been driven by strong performances across disciplines including swimming, shooting and gymnastics.
Host nation Japan continued to build its overall medal count, with its 43 silver and 44 bronze medals keeping it firmly in second place.
Day 6 also produced a historic moment for Oman. Ali Al Balushi and Mulham Al Balushi won silver and bronze respectively in the men's 100m, giving Oman its first-ever Asian Games medals in the event and marking a significant milestone for the country at Aichi-Nagoya.
The Aichi-Nagoya Games feature athletes from 45 nations and regions competing across 43 sports, with 369 gold medals available.
