Assam Passes Historic UCCAssam Bill; Himanta Biswa Sarma Hails NDA Support

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday expressed gratitude to all NDA legislators for supporting the passage of the historic #UCCAssam Bill in the Assam Assembly.

Sharing his reaction on social media, the Chief Minister said the legislation marks a significant step towards ensuring justice and empowerment for women in the state.

“I thank all NDA legislators who have voted for the passage of the historic #UCCAssam Bill. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, we remain committed to ensure justice to Assam's Nari Shakti,” Sarma posted.

The passage of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) related bill is being seen as a major political and social development in Assam. The state government has maintained that the move is aimed at strengthening women’s rights, promoting equality, and ensuring legal reforms in personal laws.

The development has also sparked political discussions across the country, with the BJP-led NDA projecting the legislation as part of its larger commitment to gender justice and social reform under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
