One of netball's fiercest rivalries took centre stage on Day 3 of the Commonwealth Games 2026 as Australia produced a dominant display to defeat England 66-47 in a highly anticipated Pool A encounter.

The match marked the eighth Commonwealth Games meeting between the two nations. Australia entered with six victories from the previous seven contests, while England were hoping to recreate their dramatic last-second triumph in the 2018 Gold Coast final.

After a closely fought opening five minutes, the world No.1 Australians shifted gears with a seven-goal scoring burst, capitalising on repeated turnovers to establish an 18-11 lead at the end of the first quarter. Their relentless attacking combinations and clinical finishing helped extend the advantage to 35-24 at halftime before sealing a convincing 19-goal victory.

Goal shooter Sophie Garbin starred with an outstanding performance, scoring 41 goals while missing just one attempt. She praised the passionate support from the Scottish crowd and highlighted the team's unity off the court as a key factor behind their impressive form.

Earlier in Pool B, hosts Scotland celebrated their first victory of the tournament by defeating Wales 56-47. Emma Barrie led the charge with 39 goals from 41 attempts, helping the hosts maintain control despite a spirited Welsh comeback.

The day's closest contest saw New Zealand edge Jamaica 53-48, with Grace Nweke continuing her prolific tournament by scoring 47 goals.

Elsewhere, Malawi overcame Northern Ireland 64-48, while South Africa delivered the tournament's biggest scoreline with a 96-42 victory over Tonga. Goal shooter Rolene Streutker became the first player to surpass 50 goals in a single match at Glasgow 2026.

Uganda also maintained their perfect start, comfortably defeating Trinidad & Tobago 80-36 to make it two wins from two matches.
