Bagbazar Gaudiya Math: CM Joins Radhastami Aarti in Kolkata!

Bagbazar Gaudiya Math witnessed special Radhastami celebrations in Kolkata on Saturday, September 19, 2026, as West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari visited the temple and participated in the evening aarti. He offered prayers before the deities of Radha and Krishna and joined devotees during the religious ceremony.

The visit took place on the occasion of Radhastami, which marks the appearance day of Srimati Radharani and holds special significance in the Gaudiya Vaishnav tradition. The celebration at the Bagbazar Gaudiya Math included prayers, Harinam Sankirtan, religious discussions and other traditional rituals.

Radhastami Celebrations at Bagbazar Gaudiya Math

The Bagbazar Gaudiya Math organised its Radhastami Mahotsav with devotees gathering at the temple from the morning. According to reports, this year's celebration marked the 107th year of the festival organised by the Gaudiya Mission.

Throughout the day, devotees participated in Harinam Sankirtan and various religious programmes. The temple premises remained immersed in a devotional atmosphere as devotees observed the auspicious occasion of Radharani's appearance day.

The evening programme received additional attention with the arrival of Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari at the temple.

CM Suvendu Adhikari Offers Prayers to Radharani

Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari reached the Bagbazar Gaudiya Math on Saturday evening. After arriving at the temple, he had darshan of Radharani and subsequently participated in the evening aarti.

During the aarti, flowers, incense and lamps were offered before the Radha-Krishna deities. The ceremony took place amid Harinam Sankirtan inside the temple premises.

The Chief Minister's participation in the religious ceremony was part of the Radhastami celebrations organised by the Gaudiya Mission.

Evening Aarti at the Gaudiya Math

The evening aarti was one of the key events of the Radhastami programme at the Bagbazar Gaudiya Math. After offering prayers, Suvendu Adhikari joined the religious proceedings at the temple.

Following the aarti, representatives of the Gaudiya Mission presented him with a bouquet and a memento. He subsequently met monks and officials associated with the Gaudiya Mission.

The visit also included a tour of the Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu Museum. Gaudiya Math Acharya and President Bhakti Sundar Sannyasi Maharaj was also present during the programme.

107th Radhastami Mahotsav

The Radhastami Mahotsav at the Bagbazar Gaudiya Math entered its 107th year in 2026. The festival was organised around the appearance day of Radharani, with a range of religious and cultural programmes scheduled at the historic Kolkata institution.
