Bengal News: The Mamata government of Bengal has not been able to spend more than Rs 1,800 crore from the 15th Finance Commission for Gram Panchayats. This disclosure is going to create an uncomfortable situation for the Mamta government, as Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has been accusing the central government of not giving funds and doing politics of vendetta.

Sources said the infighting in the Trinamool Congress is the main reason for the failure to utilize the funds. Due to this the funds allocated by the Central Government have not been utilized. According to a report, in most gram panchayats, the ruling party has two rival factions.

It is learned that the projects which are about to be implemented and the money to be spent, could not be taken off the ground due to a clash between the two factions. On Saturday, BJP’s central co-in-charge Amit Malviya tweeted that the Bengal government has failed to spend the 1,800 crores given to the panchayats. This has happened because of infighting in Trinamool.

With the use of this fund, employment would be created in rural areas. Mamta should fix her own house and stop blaming the Center for withholding money only for political gains.

Mamta government could spend only Rs 1,304 crore

It is to be known that from the 15th Finance Commission, the funds reach the Gram Panchayats directly. Gives freedom to rural bodies to spend money on any project planned by them. According to a senior official, the state started the fiscal year 2022-23 with a carry-over of Rs 1,974 crore.
