Bikaner -Guwahati Express derailed Updates: Railway Minister reaches the spot

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw reached the train accident site near Domohani, Jalpaiguri

He says, “A statutory inquiry has been initiated. PM Modi is monitoring the situation & I’m in constant touch with him. I wish a speedy recovery to the injured.”

Union Minister John Barla also reached the place.

Death toll in Bikaner-Guwahati Express mishap has risen to 9. Rescue operation is over. 52,injured were admitted to different hospitals. Passengers were sent to Guwahati by special train.

Bikaner-Guwahati Express train derailed and some overturned near Domohani in West Bengal’s Jalpaiguri district on Thursday.

There were about 1053 passengers onboard the train at the time of the derailment at the location.The location is about 42 kilometres away from New Jalpaiguri station and about 100 km away from New Alipurduar station.

Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announces ex -gratia of Rs 5 lakh each to next of kin of those killed, Rs 1 lakh to grievously injured & Rs 25000 to simply injured. Mr Vaishnaw speaks with PM and apprises him about the rescue operations.
