Calcutta High Court Directs Abhishek Banerjee to Appear Before CID, Grants Interim Protection

The Calcutta High Court on Thursday directed Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee to appear before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) by 6 p.m. today in connection with an ongoing investigation.

While ordering his appearance before the investigating agency, the High Court also granted interim relief, stating that no coercive action would be taken against Banerjee for the next two weeks.

The court's order comes amid legal proceedings surrounding the case being investigated by the CID. Banerjee is expected to cooperate with the probe and present himself before officials within the stipulated timeframe.

The interim protection provides temporary relief to the TMC national general secretary while the matter remains under judicial consideration. Political observers are closely watching the developments, given Banerjee's prominent role within the ruling Trinamool Congress and West Bengal politics.
