David Alaba and Karim Benzema scored the goals as Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid won the UEFA Super Cup for a record-equalling fifth time.

This is Real Madrid’s fifth Super Cup title.Real Madrid have now equalled Milan and Barcelona’s record of five Super Cup victories.

Real Madrid put on a clinical display to clinched the UEFA Super Cup for a record-equalling fifth time as Carlo Ancelotti broke new ground with his fourth title as a coach.Carlo Ancelotti has now won four UEFA Super Cups (AC Milan in 2003 and 2007, and Real Madrid in 2014 and 2022).

Karim Benzema is now Real Madrid’s second all-time top scorer with 324 goals – only Cristiano Ronaldo, on 450, has more.

After the match Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said ,”The opening goal was a loose ball at the far post. Our plan was to try and get crosses into that specific area because our analysis told us that they were weaker on the back post generally. But in the end it was a bit of a coincidence, except for the fact that Casemiro was where he was because we’d asked him to prowl there.”

“I didn’t need this win to be able to tell you all that my team are still hungry and motivated. It was a match which was more complicated than it might have looked.”

“From the moment Alaba scored we controlled things really well. That’s our last three finals where we’ve not conceded goals. That stands out to me.”

“I think this is the ‘healthiest’ dressing room I’ve ever coached in terms of how they think and act. My players are really intelligent. Karim Benzema, however, is the most important, most decisive player anywhere in the world. He’s vital to us for his goals and for how he plays.”
