The triumph marks Gauff’s second Cincinnati Open title, following her 2023 victory in Mason. It is also her fourth WTA 1000 trophy and 12th career WTA singles title, a remarkable milestone achieved at just 22 years of age.

Gauff also strengthened her head-to-head advantage over Pegula in 2026, making it 2-0 against her fellow American this season. The latest victory adds to her earlier high-profile win over the former doubles partner at Wimbledon.

The Cincinnati final was historic, becoming the first all-American women's final at the tournament in 56 years, since Rosie Casals defeated Nancy Richey in 1970.

Gauff had previously finished runner-up in WTA 1000 finals at Miami and Rome earlier this season. However, she finally broke through in Cincinnati at a crucial moment, heading into the US Open with renewed confidence.
