Coco Gauff Thanks God and Family After Emotional Cincinnati Triumph

Coco Gauff turned emotional after defeating fellow American Jessica Pegula in the Cincinnati Open final, taking time to thank God, her family and the loved ones who supported her throughout a challenging period.

Following her victory, Gauff spoke about the importance of her parents, brothers, grandparents, family and friends, revealing that she FaceTimed them from the bench after securing the title.

“Thank you to my parents... Back at home, my brothers and grandparents,” Gauff said, acknowledging the people who had been cheering and praying for her.

The 22-year-old also reflected on the support she received during difficult moments, saying it was special to see her family’s faces and their reaction immediately after the victory.
Gauff then turned her attention to her faith and thanked God for helping her overcome the challenges she had faced.

“I’d like to thank God for just bringing me through these tough periods,” she said.
The American star recalled how emotional she had been a year earlier, highlighting just how dramatically her circumstances had changed.

“Last year I was literally in the parking lot like in tears. It’s a big difference what a year can make.”
