At the Martínez Valero this evening, Real Madrid showed once again why their never-say-die spirit is world-renowned. Despite the odds against them, at 1-0 down and playing with ten men after Marcelo was given his marching orders on 102’, Ancelotti’s charges produced a spectacular second half of extra-time to seal their place in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals thanks to goals by Isco with 108 minutes on the clock and Hazard on 115’. The madridistas will discover their opposition in the next round on Friday.

After the match Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said , “This team never gives up. This match has made me the happiest this season so far. We’ve won a lot of matches playing well, but playing with 10 and losing 1-0, with a physical disadvantage, with goals from players who don’t play much…it means a lot.”
