CWG 2026: Mohammed Basil Wins 100m T47 Silver for India

Indian para sprinter Mohammed Basil Morssinganakath delivered an outstanding performance to win the silver medal in the Men's 100m T47 event at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, clocking a season-best 10.83 seconds.

Basil finished just behind fellow Indian Dilip Mahadu Gavit, who claimed the gold medal in a Games-record time of 10.71 seconds, giving India a historic 1-2 finish in the para athletics sprint event.

Competing in damp conditions at Glasgow, Basil held his nerve in a thrilling race to edge past England's Kevin Santos (10.85s), who secured bronze, while Australia's Jaydon Page (10.97s) finished fourth.

The remarkable gold-silver finish highlights India's growing dominance in para athletics and marks one of the country's most memorable moments at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
