CWG 2026: Selva Prabhu Wins Triple Jump Bronze for India

India continued its impressive run in athletics at the Commonwealth Games 2026 with a historic double podium in the men's triple jump. Young sensation Selva Prabhu Thirumaran captured the bronze medal with a best jump of 16.52m, while compatriot Praveen Chithravel clinched the silver medal after producing a season-best 16.58m. Jamaica's Jordan Scott claimed the gold medal with a winning leap of 16.72m.

The 21-year-old Selva Prabhu displayed remarkable consistency throughout the competition. After moving into medal contention with a 16.17m effort in the second round, he improved to 16.43m in the third attempt before producing his best jump of 16.52m, which secured the bronze medal.

Praveen Chithravel, meanwhile, mounted a brilliant comeback after being placed fifth during the early rounds. His outstanding 16.58m leap in the fourth attempt propelled him into the silver-medal position, completing a memorable one-two finish for India on the podium.

The bronze medal marks Selva Prabhu's first major senior international medal, underlining his successful transition from the junior ranks after winning silver at the 2022 World Athletics U20 Championships in Cali.

India's double podium in Glasgow also continues the nation's growing dominance in the triple jump at the Commonwealth Games, reflecting the country's rising strength in field events on the international stage.
