Indian boxer Sakshi Chaudhary continued India's golden run at the 2026 Commonwealth Games by winning the Gold medal in the Women's 51kg boxing category, defeating England's Ruby White via a 5-0 unanimous decision in a commanding final.

Facing the home favourite in front of a partisan Glasgow crowd, Sakshi displayed exceptional composure, tactical intelligence and clinical counter-punching to outclass her opponent and secure India's latest boxing gold.

A Masterclass in the Final

Sakshi began the bout with disciplined footwork and precise counter-attacks, absorbing Ruby White's early aggression before landing clean scoring punches that earned her all five judges' cards in the opening round.

She tightened her grip on the contest in the second round with a solid defensive display, neutralising White's attacks while connecting with sharp right-hand combinations to take the round comfortably.

In the final round, Sakshi maintained complete control of the ring, landing crisp right hooks and showcasing excellent defensive movement. Her dominant performance resulted in a unanimous 5-0 verdict, sealing the Commonwealth Games title.

A Hawaldar in the Indian Army and a two-time World Youth Champion, Sakshi made the courageous decision to move down from her regular 54kg category to compete in the 51kg division ahead of the Commonwealth Games.

Following a strict fitness and diet programme while overcoming previous injury setbacks, she earned her place in the Indian squad by defeating top-ranked rivals during the national selection trials.

The gamble paid off in spectacular fashion as she produced one of the most dominant campaigns of the boxing competition.
