The medal was particularly special for Chithravel, who had narrowly missed the podium by just three centimetres at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. The 2023 Asian Games bronze medallist once again showcased his consistency on the international stage.

Twenty-one-year-old Selva Prabhu Thirumaran displayed remarkable composure throughout the competition. His best effort of 16.52m, achieved on the fifth attempt, secured the bronze medal and marked his first senior international podium finish.

Jamaica's Jordan Scott produced the winning jump of 16.72m to secure the gold medal, finishing ahead of the two Indian athletes.
