Cyclone Arnab: NDRF Details Evacuation and Safety Preparations
Delhi: The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has outlined precautionary safety measures in preparation for cyclone Arnab, with a focus on evacuating vulnerable residents and strengthening local-level awareness. NDRF Inspector General Narendra Singh Bundela said the Indian Air Force had airlifted four NDRF teams the previous day to support preparedness efforts.
Bundela said the priority was to protect people living in vulnerable areas and ensure that local authorities were prepared to respond to potential risks.
NDRF Prioritises Safety of Vulnerable Groups
According to Bundela, special attention is being given to elderly people, pregnant women and children.
Pregnant women are being moved to hospitals or dispensaries ahead of the anticipated event to ensure access to medical care. Authorities are also identifying residents who may require assistance in reaching safer locations.
Boats and Low-Lying Areas Under Safety Measures
Bundela said boats are being brought back to shore and anchored securely or moved to safer locations as a precaution.
Residents of low-lying areas identified through historical records are also being relocated to safer places where necessary. These measures are intended to reduce risks to people and property in potentially affected areas.
Warning Systems and Community Awareness
The NDRF official said warning systems are being used to support outreach by local agencies and authorities.
Community-level awareness efforts aim to inform residents about the necessary precautions and encourage them to follow official safety instructions.
Bundela's remarks highlight the role of coordination between disaster-response teams, the armed forces and local authorities in preparing for cyclone-related risks. Residents in potentially affected areas should follow official advisories and evacuation instructions issued by local authorities.
