Delhi unveils Mayur mascot for CWTT Championship 2026.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday unveiled 'Mayur', the official mascot of the Commonwealth Table Tennis Championship 2026, which will be held at Thyagaraj Stadium from July 27 to August 2.

The championship is set to feature leading table tennis players from 25 Commonwealth nations, placing Delhi in the international sporting spotlight. The unveiling ceremony was attended by Delhi Education and Sports Minister Ashish Sood, Commonwealth Table Tennis Federation President Vivek Kohli, officials of the Table Tennis Federation of India, players, coaches, and other dignitaries.

Speaking at the event, Ashish Sood said 'Mayur' embodies confidence, excellence, determination, sportsmanship, and India's rich cultural heritage. Inspired by the national bird, the mascot reflects pride, energy, and beauty while symbolising the spirit of the championship.

Sood also highlighted the Delhi government's long-term vision of transforming the national capital into a premier destination for international sporting events, including the Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, World Championships, and other global competitions.

As part of this vision, the Delhi government is establishing five Centres of Excellence in sports such as swimming, athletics, wrestling, and table tennis. These facilities will provide world-class coaching, sports science support, and advanced training infrastructure to nurture the next generation of athletes from Delhi and across India.
