India’s High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi Meets Bangladesh PM Tarique Rahman
India’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Dinesh Trivedi, met Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman in Dhaka on Monday, August 10, 2026, in a significant diplomatic engagement between the two neighbouring countries.
The meeting comes amid efforts by New Delhi and Dhaka to strengthen bilateral ties under the new Bangladeshi government led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
Trivedi, who recently took charge as India’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh, has repeatedly expressed optimism about the future of India-Bangladesh relations. He has also said that New Delhi is looking forward to welcoming Tarique Rahman to India.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has invited Tarique Rahman to attend the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi on September 12–13 as a special guest. Bangladesh is currently reviewing the invitation.
The latest high-level interaction is expected to add further momentum to diplomatic efforts aimed at improving cooperation and addressing pending bilateral issues between India and Bangladesh.
