DK Shivakumar Credits Gandhi Family for Shaping His Political Journey Ahead of Taking Charge as Karnataka Chief Minister
Karnataka Chief Minister-designate DK Shivakumar has expressed deep gratitude to the Gandhi family, acknowledging their significant role in shaping his political journey from a grassroots Congress worker to the state's highest executive office.
In a heartfelt social media post, Shivakumar reflected on the guidance, encouragement, and trust he received from former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, and Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
Recalling his early years in politics, Shivakumar said Rajiv Gandhi recognized his potential long before he did himself and inspired him to dream bigger while dedicating himself to public service. He described Rajiv Gandhi as a leader who had the rare ability to identify possibilities in others and motivate them to exceed their own expectations.
The Karnataka leader also praised Sonia Gandhi for standing by him during challenging periods of his political career, stating that true leadership is demonstrated through unwavering support in difficult times rather than only during moments of success.
Speaking about Rahul Gandhi, Shivakumar highlighted his commitment to democratic values, inclusive governance, and compassionate leadership. He credited Rahul Gandhi's guidance and support as a constant source of inspiration throughout his public life.
He further acknowledged Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's approachable and people-centric leadership style, noting that her respect for grassroots workers reinforced the importance of connecting with citizens and understanding their aspirations.
Shivakumar said the Gandhi family represents different dimensions of leadership—recognizing talent, standing by colleagues during adversity, listening with empathy, and inspiring others through conviction and service.
As he prepares to assume office as Karnataka's Chief Minister, Shivakumar reaffirmed his commitment to building a progressive, inclusive, and prosperous Karnataka. He said he remains grateful for the trust reposed in him and pledged to work sincerely under the guidance of the Congress leadership and with the blessings of the people of Karnataka.
