by Kolkata Today

DYFI leader died in a nursing home in Kolkata after being injured in a clash with the police  during the Nabanna Abhijan organised by leftist youth activists. The leftists alleged that the young activist was severely beaten by the police on the day of the Nabanna Abhijan. Maidul Islam Midya, 31, a resident of Kotulpur in Bankura, fell ill due to the beating.

Maidul was first admitted to the hospital under CPM leader and Dr. Fuad Halim. He was admitted to a nursing home on Camac Street on February 13 due to deteriorating physical condition. There were signs of stick injuries on the body, alleged Fouad Halim. ‘Kidney damage is caused by the blow of the stick, due to water accumulated in the lungs. There is no cause of death other than beating, ”complained Dr.Halim.
