Employees Among Those Injured In The Blast
Four people were injured in a suspicious blast that occurred in Bengaluru’s The Rameshwaram Café in the Kundalahalli area of the city that comes under Whitehead, Bengaluru’s IT hub. The police are investigating what the cause of the blast at the popular restaurant was. Of the four persons who were injured, three are employees of the café. As per initial investigations, the police are cannot ascertain whether it was due to a massive short circuit, a gas cylinder explosion, or some other cause altogether.
No casualties have been reported so far, reported news agency PTI. The injured have been shifted to a local hospital and are currently receiving treatment as per officials.
Visuals of the blast that are circulating on social media show huge crowds gathered in the area around the site of The Rameshwaram Cafe. A video that was shared showed a fire engine had arrived at the spot. It has been reported that the café’s premises have been damaged in places by the blast. The place was reportedly full of customers as it was lunch-time on a weekday.
The Whitefield Fire Station authorities spoke to reporters on the incident and said, “We received a call that a cylinder blast occurred in The Rameshwaram Cafe. We reached the spot and we are analyzing the situation.”
As per sources, since there was no fire after the explosion occurred, it does not seem like a gas cylinder burst. The police are also checking whether it was caused owing to a gas pipeline leak. Details are awaited from the authorities. As per eye witnesses, the café is usually packed all through the afternoon as several office-goers drop in there for their lunch.
A forensic team has already reached the site to determine the cause of the explosion at The Rameshwaram Café today.
