FC Bayern won this game in the first half but Plzen had some great moments after the break and scored two goals of their own to delight their fans. The win means Bayern have qualified for the knockout stage.

Four goals in 35 first-half minutes effectively sealed FC Bayern’s passage to the knockout stages. Sadio Mané gave the visitors an early lead and Thomas Müller soon tapped in the second. Leon Goretzka added a double, the first a sweeping finish and the second a calm chip over the goalkeeper, as Bayern took full control. Adam Vlkanova and Jan Kliment scored in the second half to lift the Plzen fans but the night belonged to Bayern.

Bayern midfielder Leon Goretzka has been named Player of the Match. UEFA’s Technical Observer Panel said: “He was the most influential player in the first half when he scored two goals and assisted one more. He broke the deep defence of the opposition.”

FC Bayern stretched their unbeaten run in the Champions League group stage to a record-extending 32 games.

FC Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann,”It’s always nice to win away from home. We’ve got 12 points from four games in the toughest group and we’re into the round of 16. Now we want to top the group. This win gives us the necessary calm ahead of Freiburg on Sunday. That was our goal and we achieved it.”
