Despite William Saliba’s own goal and a well-taken James Maddison finish, Gabriel Jesus’ first-half brace and goals from Granit Xhaka and Gabriel Martinelli helped the hosts to all three Premier League points.

Gabriel Jesus marked his home debut for Arsenal with his first two goals for the club in a 4-2 success over Leicester City.

The Brazilian striker opened his account for us with two goals in the opening 45 minutes. His brace gave the Arsenal a two-goal lead heading into the break, before Leicester hit back when William Saliba headed into his own net.

Gabriel Jesus became the first Arsenal player to score more than once on his home Premier League debut in their 4-2 win over Leicester City.

Granit Xhaka and James Maddison exchanged strikes to ensure a tense finish, which was settled by a Gabriel Martinelli goal for the second match running, to make it two wins from two.

After the match Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta said,”I think the crowd was special, especially after Saliba’s own goal. The way they reacted was something I’ve never seen in football; the amount of support and connection they are showing with us, and especially with William, lifted the team straight away. I have to thank them so much for that.

“From the first minute, they were electric. You feel like they are totally with us, totally engaged and it is so energising for the team. The boys keep talking about it – they can’t wait to play in front of this crowd, and it’s making a huge difference.”
