Dr.Hasan Mahmud unveiled the plaque of two martyred journalists at Kolkata press club

Information and Cultural minister of Bangladesh  Dr.Hasan Mahmud unveiled the plaque of two martyred journalists at Kolkata press club on Saturday. Two journalists, Dipak Bandhopadhyay and Surajit Ghosal were involved in the Bangladesh Independence War. To give them proper respect, a memorial plaque was dedicated for them. Simon Sarwar Kamal, a member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee of Ministry of Information of Bangladesh came in the unveiling program as well.

Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner Toufique Hasan and Press Club Kolkata President Snehashis Sur were present.

After the unveiling ceremony, Hasan Mahmud said, ” India has always cooperated with Bangladesh. We can’t forgot their help. We would remember the support of Kolkata press club and it’s journalist.
First time when Sheikh Mujibur Rahman‘s government was announced, it was in this Calcutta”.

Kolkata press club President Snehashis Sur said,” Kolkata press club has unveiled a book on the journalists who fought at the time. Journalist’s words were like weapon at that time. They helped to inform the world about the situation of Bangladesh”.
