The striker opened the score from the penalty and scored again with a header before the break. He also scored in the first play but there was offside.

The Qatar 2022 World Cup has begun this Sunday with the victory of Ecuador over the hosts, Qatar, in the opening match held at Al Bayt stadium. The South American team has clearly prevailed in the game and on the scoreboard thanks to the two goals of Valencia in the first half. The striker scored the first goal of the World Cup from the penalty point, and got the second with a big header. He had also managed to score in the first play of the game, but the referee annulled the goal. The bad news for Ecuador is that Valencia has retired in the second half with some inconvenience. The hosts have not had any clear opportunity and have left a bad image in the first match in Qatar’s history in the World Cups. In fact, they have become the first organiser of a World Cup to lose the opening match in history.
An impossible round for Qatar, whose staging was very poor, too much, for a host team. The World Cup has started with its first moral: money does not give happiness. And in cases like soccer, it doesn’t even help to get it.
“We have a lot of room for improvement. No excuses, we started badly… nerves and responsibility have played a trick on us.” Feliz Sanchez Qatar coach.
“He is the all-time top-scorer for Ecuador, he is going through tough times, he was questioned at times in Ecuador. He managed to score, which means a lot to him.“ Gustavo Alfaro on Enner Valencia.
