Ujjain South MLA Mohan Yadav Takes Charge As New Chief Minister Of Madhya Pradesh

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has today finally announced the name of the chief minister-elect in
Madhya Pradesh. The announcement came soon after the BJP observers met the newly elected BJP
MLAs in the state. Mohan Yadav, MLA from Ujjain South, is the Madhya Pradesh chief minister-elect. He
was a minister in the earlier Shivraj Singh Chouhan cabinet. Mohan Yadav, backed by the Rashtriya
Swayamsevak Sangh served as the higher education minister in the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government.
“I am a small worker of the party. I thank all of you, the state leadership, and the central leadership.
With your love and support, I will try to fulfill my responsibilities,” said Yadav after being named as the
chief minister-elect.
Mohan Yadav’s name comes as a surprise to many as he was not considered a hot favorite in the race
for the post. The front runners in Madhya Pradesh were the CM incumbent Shivraj Singh Chouhan,
Prahlad Patel, newly elected Dimani MLA Narendra Tomar, Kailash Vijayvargiya, state unit chief Vishnu
Dutt Sharma, and Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) retained power in Madhya Pradesh following the November’23 polls
with a majority, winning 163 seats in the 230-member assembly leaving Congress a distant second
with 66 seats.
