Jannik Sinner arrived at Wimbledon this week without a single main draw victory on grass, but he is turning his second visit to the All England Lawn Tennis Club into one to remember.

The Italian’s billing as an immense talent capable of achieving special things in tennis has been enhanced by his impressive progression to the second week of Wimbledon.
In the opening round he proved too strong for three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka. On Friday, he was too classy for 2018 Wimbledon semi-finalist John Isner.
Isner already holds the record for playing the longest match in history, both in duration and in the number of games, for his famous 2010 Wimbledon victory over Nicolas Mahut.
The 37-year-old added another when eclipsing Ivo Karlovic’s previous mark of 13,728 aces to establish a record of 13,748 after sizzling 24 past Sinner in their third round clash.
Isner needed less than two games to strike the five aces he needed to surpass Karlovic atop a leaderboard that includes all-time greats Roger Federer and Pete Sampras.
But having defeated two genuine stars in Wawrinka and Isner, along with Swede Mikael Ymer, Sinner said he is feeling increasingly comfortable on grass courts.
“For me, in the beginning of the week, it was important to win one match on grass, so I am very happy to be now in the last 16. It means a lot to me,” Sinner said.
“I am just trying my best, day after day. I tried to get used to the grass (and) I think now I am a bit more confident. That is important.”
t was scintillating tennis and it sets the stage for what will be one of the most anticipated clashes yet at Wimbledon this year when he confronts Alcaraz on Sunday.
