Participating in his first Grand Slam,qualifier Brandon Holt got off to a roaring start, then wobbled in a few service games at crucial moments of the early sets before holding his nerve late to close out a 6-7(3), 7-6(1), 6-3, 6-4 victory over fellow American and No. 10 seed Taylor Fritz in the first round of the 2022 US Open on the Grandstand.
Holt, the son of two-time US Open singles champion Tracy Austin, came into the match ranked 201 spots behind the world No. 12, but showed resilience and a solid baseline game in winning his first-ever ATP Tour level match.
