Manchester United fans were able to give Manchester United’s new signing Brazilian star Casemiro a big Old Trafford welcome when he was presented to the crowd before Monday Night’s game against Liverpool.
The Brazilian midfielder flew into Manchester on Monday afternoon and travelled straight to Old Trafford to complete his transfer from Real Madrid.
Casemiro will become the 10th man to have played for Manchester United and Real Madrid.
He was introduced on the pitch ahead of kick-off in what was bound to be a special moment for him and fans during the build-up to one of our biggest games of the season.
Casemiro, who has played 63 times for Brazil, becomes the latest signing during this transfer window, joining Christian Eriksen, Tyrell Malacia and Lisandro Martinez, as Erik ten Hag continues to strengthen his first-team squad.
Casemiro has signed a contract until June 2026, with the option to extend for a further year, subject to UK visa requirements, and is expected to join up with the squad to begin training this week.
The Brazilian midfielder has played over 550 professional games and has captained his country. He has won 22 major honours in his illustrious career, including five Champions League titles and the Copa America.
Manchester United coach Erik ten Hag is delighted to be able to welcome the 30-year-old to United to Manchester and he feels his inclusion in the midfield will help the team to gel better.
Erik ten Hag said ,“He is the cement between the stones, that is what we have been looking for in the summer and found him.”
