FIFA World Cup 2026 Portugal Squad: Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes and Bernardo Silva Lead the Charge
A record 1,248 players will compete across the United States, Canada and Mexico in an expanded edition of the FIFA World Cup in 2026, where 48 teams will participate for the first time.
Cape Verde, Curaçao, Jordan and Uzbekistan will make their debut while established superstars like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo will make their record sixth appearance in the showpiece competition for Argentina and Portuhal respectively.
Players from diverse backgrounds and cultures, representing hundreds of clubs across dozens of countries will be on the pitch from June 11 to July 19.
Argentina are the reigning champions while traditional heavyweights Brazil, France, Germany and Spain will look to regain the trophyin what promises to be the most expansive and competitive edition of the event in history.
Managed by a talented core of experienced stars and emerging talents, Portugal enter the competition as one of Europe’s strongest contenders. Alongside Ronaldo, the squad boasts world-class names such as Bruno Fernandes, Bernardo Silva, Ruben Dias, Vitinha, and Rafael Leao, giving Portugal the quality and depth to challenge for football’s biggest prize.
With reigning champions Argentina aiming to defend their crown and traditional powerhouses Brazil, France, Germany, and Spain also in contention, Portugal will be determined to make a deep run and potentially lift their first-ever FIFA World Cup trophy.
