Donald Trump Praises PM Narendra Modi as a ‘Tough Negotiator’, Hints at Future India Visit

US President Donald Trump heaped praise on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during an interaction in Evian, France, describing him as a “very tough negotiator” and highlighting his strong leadership qualities.

Speaking about PM Modi, Trump remarked that while the Indian leader appears calm and friendly, he is an exceptionally skilled negotiator who always prioritizes the interests of the Indian people. “He’s a very tough negotiator. He looks so nice, like an angel, but he’s very tough. He’s a tough trader, and he loves the Indian people,” Trump said.

Recalling the historic “Howdy Modi” event held in Houston, Texas, Trump noted the overwhelming public support for the Indian Prime Minister. He remembered the packed stadium and emphasized the strong bond between the two leaders and the growing partnership between India and the United States.

Trump also hinted at a future visit to India, saying, “We’ll be going to India sometime in the future,” signaling continued engagement and cooperation between the two nations.

The remarks come amid ongoing discussions on strengthening India-US relations across trade, strategic cooperation, technology, and global security, underscoring the importance of the partnership between the world's two largest democracies.
