France booked their place in the FIFA World Cup 2026 semi-finals after a clinical 2-0 victory over Morocco, with Kylian Mbappe once again proving decisive at Boston Stadium.

The France captain overcame a first-half penalty miss to score his eighth goal of the tournament before providing the assist for Ousmane Dembele's fifth goal of the finals. The result sends Les Bleus into the last four, where they will face the winner of Belgium vs Spain.

France dominated the early exchanges, creating several opportunities, including a fifth-minute header from Dayot Upamecano that was comfortably saved by Yassine Bounou.

The turning point came after Noussair Mazraoui fouled Mbappe inside the penalty area. Although Bounou brilliantly denied Mbappe from the spot, France maintained control throughout the contest.

The breakthrough finally arrived in the 60th minute when Mbappe curled a stunning strike into the far corner from outside the box. Moments later, the French superstar turned creator, threading a perfect pass to Dembele, who calmly slotted home to double the lead.

France comfortably managed the remainder of the match to secure a third consecutive FIFA World Cup semi-final appearance, following their triumph in 2018 and runners-up finish in Qatar 2022.

France head coach Didier Deschamps praised his team's resilience after the victory.
"It was a tough match. We missed a penalty and failed to convert some chances. With Kylian Mbappe, there's no issue—he never doubts himself. We are exactly where we wanted to be. We've cleared a major hurdle and will recover well before seeing who our next opponent will be."
