Gadchiroli Police Recover Explosives, Weapons in Forest
Anti-Maoist Operation Launched in Gadchiroli
According to police, the operation was launched on October 6 following intelligence inputs that Naxals had concealed explosives and other material in the forest with the intention of targeting security forces.
Personnel from the Special Operations Squad and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) conducted an extensive search of the area during the operation.
Weapons and Explosive Material Recovered
During the search, police recovered three rocket launchers, two single-shot rifles and two 12-bore rifles. They also found three 12-bore live cartridges and 10 detonators.
Other material recovered from the forest included:
- 150 metres of cable wire
- Nine magazines
- 10 cookers
- Five walkie-talkies
- 12 walkie-talkie chargers
- Other Maoist-related material
Recovered Hazardous Material Destroyed
The recovered explosives and other hazardous material were destroyed at the spot by the authorities under prescribed safety procedures.
The operation was carried out by the Special Operations Squad and BDDS as part of the anti-Maoist operation in the Gadchiroli forest area.
