Lok Bhavan marked Poila Boishakh with warmth and enthusiasm, featuring vibrant cultural performances and enthusiastic participation from people across diverse sections of society, reflecting the rich and diverse traditions of Bengal.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Ravi highlighted Bengal’s significant contributions to Bharat’s civilizational journey, noting its historical role in shaping spiritual depth, cultural richness, intellectual leadership, and industrial growth.

He expressed concern over the state’s current socio-economic indicators, stating that while Bengal once contributed over 10% to India’s GDP, its share has now declined to nearly 5%. He also pointed out that despite Bengal’s legacy as a hub of intellectual excellence, its Gross Enrollment Ratio now lags behind the national average. Additionally, he noted that while India has over 5.5 crore registered MSMEs, Bengal accounts for only a small fraction of them.
On the occasion of Poila Boishakh, Governor Ravi called upon the youth to take a “Nabo Barsho resolve” to rejuvenate Bengal’s growth trajectory, reclaim its historic prominence, and contribute actively to India’s vision of becoming a developed and globally leading nation.
