62.89 percent voters passed with first division
As many as 62.89 per cent voters exercised their franchise in the first phase of the Gujarat Assembly polls which was held peacefully on Thursday. This time around 4.4 per cent less polling has been recorded as compared to 67.23 per cent last time. However, there is a possibility of manipulation of the polling figures. Along with this, the fate of 788 candidates who contested for 89 seats in 19 districts has been sealed in EVMs.

Direct fight between BJP and Congress in Danilimda assembly constituency
The minority and Dalit-dominated Danilimda assembly constituency in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad city is witnessing a direct fight between the BJP and the Congress. This seat came into existence only a decade ago. However, the BJP has never won from this region till date. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is trying its best to win the elections this time. This matter has become even more interesting with the entry of AIMIM. The Danilimda seat has around 2,65,000 registered voters, of whom around 34 per cent belong to minority communities, while 33 per cent belong to the Dalit-SC community. The rest are from the Patel and Kshatriya communities.
