Gujarat Titans Crush RCB in Ahmedabad; Shubman Gill and Jason Holder Shine
In a high-octane clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium, the Gujarat Titans (GT) secured a dominant 4-wicket victory over the defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Powered by a fiery start from Shubman Gill and a disciplined bowling performance led by Jason Holder and Arshad Khan, the Titans chased down 156 with 25 balls to spare. RCB Innings: Middle-Order Collapse Stalls Momentum After being put in to bat by GT skipper Shubman Gill, RCB’s innings was a tale of two halves. Virat Kohli (28 off 13) looked in vintage form, at one point hammering Kagiso Rabada for five consecutive boundaries. However, Rabada got his revenge shortly after, dismissing Kohli to spark a collapse. Devdutt Padikkal played a lone hand in the middle overs, scoring a brisk 40 off 24 balls, but he found little support. The GT bowling unit was relentless: Arshad Khan: 3/22 (The pick of the bowlers) Rashid Khan: 2/19 (Choked the run rate) Jason Holder: 2/29 (Crucial wickets and 3 catches) GT Chase: Gill and Buttler Unleash Early Fireworks Gujarat’s response was clinical and explosive. Shubman Gill set the tone immediately, smashing Josh Hazlewood for 24 runs in a single over. Gill’s 43 off 18 balls and Jos Buttler’s 39 off 19 took the game away from RCB within the Powerplay. Despite a spirited fightback from veteran Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who finished with 3/28, the target was never out of reach. Rahul Tewatia (27* off 17) displayed his trademark composure to guide the Titans home, finishing the game at 158/6 in just 15.5 overs. Result: Gujarat Titans won by 4 wickets. Player of the Match: Jason Holder (2/29 & 12 runs). With this victory, Gujarat Titans move to 10 points from 9 matches, significantly boosting their Net Run Rate (NRR) and strengthening their push for the playoffs. For RCB, this loss serves as a wake-up call as they look to defend their title.
