Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign: WB Govt Issues 13-Point Directive for Statewide Drive from Aug 9–17

Ahead of Independence Day, the West Bengal government has directed the observance of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign across the state from August 9 to 17. The initiative aims to enhance public awareness regarding patriotism, national unity, and the dignity of the National Flag.

To ensure the success of the campaign, Nabanna has issued a 13-point directive targeting district magistrates, panchayats, municipalities, educational institutions, government offices, as well as cultural and youth organizations. Financial allocations have also been announced for districts, subdivisions, blocks, and civic bodies. According to the directive, grand Tiranga rallies and foot marches carrying the National Flag are to be organized at the district, subdivision, block, and municipal levels. Additionally, bike and cycle rallies involving the NSS, NCC, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Scouts & Guides, students, and youth groups have been mandated.

Schools and colleges have been asked to decorate their premises around the Tiranga theme, display quotes of freedom fighters, highlight excerpts of Vande Mataram, and foster a patriotic ambiance. Government offices, heritage structures, bus terminals, ferry ghats, and market areas will feature Tiranga-themed illuminations and large Tiranga rangolis.

The guidelines also outline the organization of patriotic songs, performance of Vande Mataram, and cultural events at public spaces, government offices, and educational institutes. Citizens are encouraged to hoist the National Flag at every home, shop, commercial establishment, and institution. Exhibitions on the history and significance of the National Flag, essay competitions, quizzes, seminars, speeches, and cultural shows will be held to boost awareness about the freedom movement and national integration. Digital outreach forms a key part of the campaign. The state has instructed widespread promotion via banners, posters, social media campaign drives, profile picture updates, and selfie uploads on the Har Ghar Tiranga portal to maximize public participation. Events featuring prominent personalities from the fields of culture and sports are also being planned in various districts to attract large gatherings.

As per Nabanna's orders, approximately 1.5 lakh National Flags will be distributed in each district, with a specific allocation of 20,000 flags for Kalimpong district considering its geographical area.

To facilitate execution, the state government has released specific funds: 1 lakh for each district, 50,000 for each subdivision, 20,000 for each block, 1 lakh for each municipal corporation, and 20,000 for each municipality. Nabanna expects that with active participation from the administration and the public, this year’s 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign will achieve widespread success.
