Harry Kane's Brace Fires England to 4-2 Victory Over Croatia in World Cup 2026
Harry Kane scored twice to propel England to a 4–2 victory over Croatia in their opening Group L match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Kane reached 10 career World Cup goals and stands alongside Gary Lineker as England's joint-highest goalscorer in the tournament’s history.
The England captain led from the front at the Estadio BBVA, as he converted a re-taken penalty to break the deadlock in the 12th minute after Noni Madueke was brought down in the penalty area by Croatia's Luka Modric.
Croatia responded through Martin Baturina slipping through the English defense to level the score.
But Kane struck again just before the half-time whistle, rising highest to meet a perfectly placed Declan Rice corner and restore England's lead.
Croatia's Petar Musa capitalised on a defensive slip to make it 2–2 deep into stoppage time.
England asserted dominance 90 seconds after the restart as Jude Bellingham controlled a loose ball at the edge of the box and fired a low, powerful shot to make it 3–2.
Substitute Marcus Rashford sealed the victory in the 85th minute, finishing a swift counter-attack to guarantee the 4–2
England's next match against Ghana, while Croatia faces Panama.
