A key focus of the meeting was the time-bound expansion of Dharamshala Airport in Kangra, aimed at enabling operations by larger aircraft and increasing passenger-handling capacity. The expansion is expected to support tourism and improve air access to the region.
The meeting also highlighted the role of heliports under the Modified UDAN scheme in improving last-mile connectivity across Himachal Pradesh. Given the state's challenging mountainous terrain, heliports can provide an important alternative for connecting remote and tourism-dependent areas.
The proposed measures are aimed at creating stronger aviation infrastructure, improving regional connectivity and supporting Himachal Pradesh's tourism economy.
