India and Slovakia Elevate Ties to Comprehensive Partnership Following Modi-Fico Summit

India and Slovakia have elevated their bilateral relationship to a Comprehensive Partnership following high-level talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico in Bratislava.

During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed the full spectrum of bilateral relations and explored new opportunities for cooperation across key sectors, including trade and investment, defence and security, technology and innovation, space and nuclear energy, education and culture, and talent mobility and people-to-people exchanges.

Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Fico also exchanged views on regional and global developments, including the need for reforms within the United Nations and strengthening multilateral cooperation to address contemporary global challenges.

A major highlight of the discussions was the shared optimism regarding the implementation of the India-European Union Free Trade Agreement (FTA). Both leaders noted that the historic agreement is expected to unlock significant opportunities in trade, manufacturing, investment, and job creation, particularly benefiting the youth of both nations.

In a landmark outcome, India and Slovakia agreed to elevate their relationship to a Comprehensive Partnership, reflecting the growing strategic importance of bilateral ties and a shared commitment to deeper cooperation.

The visit also resulted in several key agreements and collaborative initiatives spanning digital technologies, defence cooperation, cybersecurity, post-quantum technologies, audio-visual content creation, mobility, and scientific research, including cooperation in the field of nuclear energy.

The elevation of ties marks a new chapter in India-Slovakia relations and is expected to strengthen economic, technological, and strategic collaboration between the two countries in the years ahead.
