India and Slovakia Elevate Ties to Comprehensive Partnership, PM Modi Announces After Talks with PM Fico

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a major upgrade in India-Slovakia relations following his meeting with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, describing the occasion as a “very special moment” in the friendship between the two nations.

Sharing details of the discussions on social media, PM Modi said India and Slovakia have elevated their bilateral relationship to a Comprehensive Partnership, reflecting the growing strategic importance of ties between the two countries.

The leaders held extensive talks on expanding cooperation across key sectors, including automobiles, railways, advanced manufacturing, green technology, digital innovation, artificial intelligence, and space.

PM Modi emphasized that technology will serve as a key pillar of the strengthened partnership. He noted that the newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on digital technology is expected to create new opportunities for collaboration and innovation between India and Slovakia.

The two sides also agreed to deepen cooperation in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and space research, areas that are increasingly shaping global economic growth and technological advancement.

Highlighting the broader economic outlook, PM Modi said the implementation of the India-European Union Free Trade Agreement (FTA) would provide additional momentum to India-Slovakia relations by enhancing trade, investment, and business opportunities.

The meeting underscored the shared commitment of both countries to expanding cooperation in high-growth sectors and strengthening people-to-people and economic ties.
