India Begin World Cup Campaign with Convincing Win
India opened their FIH Hockey World Cup Belgium & Netherlands 2026 campaign on a winning note, defeating Wales 3–1 in their Pool D encounter.
Captain Harmanpreet Singh led the way with two goals from penalty corners, while Sanjay also found the net from a penalty corner as India secured all three points.
The victory gives India an important start to their World Cup campaign and sets the tone for their upcoming Pool D fixtures.
India will next face England on August 17, as they look to build on their impressive opening performance and strengthen their position in the group.
